A regulator, an educator, an inventor, and an entrepreneur with a passion for radiation and nuclear technologies. Combines a Ph.D. in Nuclear Engineering with a Master’s degree in Business Administration. Co-founded two companies: an American company that specializes in building devices based on thin-film technology and A Saudi company, which specializes in project management to help advance the non-oil based economy that supports Vision 2023. Co-invented and patented several technologies including a radiation detector, a renewable energy device, an X-ray technology that doesn’t require electricity perfectly suited for remote areas, and a smart knee brace that communicates with the surgeon and physical therapist to help expedite the healing process of orthopedic surgery patients. An Associate Professor for radiation detection and engineering design at King Abdulaziz University, and a courtesy faculty position holder in the school of Nuclear Science and Engineering (NSE) at Oregon State University.
Dr. Saad Aldelaijan is a board-certified physicist in therapeutic medical physics by the American Board of Radiology (ABR). He works at King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre (KFSH&RC), Riyadh, and leads the Brachytherapy Physics Program. He has 17 years of experience in biomedical physics and engineering applications focusing on radiation oncology, dosimetry, brachytherapy, and regulations of radiation-emitting devices. He was a former researcher at the Dana-Farber/Brigham and Women's Cancer Center, Harvard Medical School, and has authored/contributed to more than 20 peer-reviewed papers in prestigious journals, and currently serves in several professional committees. His Ph.D. thesis at McGill University, Canada, has won the 2020 Leslie A. Geddes Prize for Excellence in Biomedical Engineering, and he was the recipient of the 2021 Young Scientist Award by the Middle East Federation of Organizations of Medical Physics (MEFOMP).
Dr. Jastaniyah is also involved in advancing the field through training and auditing. She is interested comprehensive radiotherapy audits using the IAEA QUATRO methodology and keen on its national implementation.
Dr. Zhu's honors include Royal Society Sino-British Fellowship Trust International Exchanges Award (2024), IASLC International Mentorship Program Award (2024), and ESMO Clinical/Translational Unit Visit Fellowship (2024, 2018). He was also recognized with CSCO "35 under 35" Young Investigator Award in 2022 and graduated from the first cohort of ESMO Leaders Generation Program Asia in 2019. He holds a Certification of Advanced Studies in Lung Cancer from ESO and University of Zurich, and has served as a mentor in ASCO Journals Reviewer Trainee Mentoring Program (2022). He was certificated a diploma of Global Clinical Scholars Research Training (GCSRT) from Harvard Medical School in 2024. Dr. Arjun Sahgal is an international clinical and research leader in the field of high precision stereotactic radiation to the brain and spine for both metastases and primary tumors. He currently serves as the Chief of the Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of Toronto affiliated Sunnybrook Odette Cancer Centre. In addition, he is the director of the Sunnybrook Cancer Ablation Therapy (CAT) program which involved the installation of a MR Brachytherapy suite, MR Linac and Gamma Knife Icon technology. After training at the University of Toronto in radiation oncology, he completed a radiosurgery fellowship at the University of California San Francisco. He has published, as lead or as a contributor, over 500 peer reviewed papers including in high impact journals like the Journal of Clinical Oncology, Lancet Oncology, and New England Journal of Medicine. He developed the 24 Gy in 2 SBRT fraction regimen for spinal metastases which was tested in the landmark SC24 randomized trial, proving superiority over conventional palliative radiation with respect to complete pain response. He has been awarded a total of $42.5 M in funding since his leadership. His next phase of research is in the development of MR in radiation therapy, the application of MR Guided Focused Ultrasound Technology with radiation, personalized treatments for glioma and he leads the development of SC29 which is a randomized trial of SBRT vs. conventional radiation for non-spine bone metastases.
Dr. Refaat’s expertise in adaptive radiation therapy, intraoperative radiation therapy, and precision oncology has contributed to the development of novel treatment approaches for GI and breast cancers. His passion for education and mentorship is reflected in his active role within the American Society of Radiation Oncology (ASTRO), where he currently serves as Vice Chair of the International Committee and previously chaired the International Education Subcommittee (2021–2023). He is also the President and Founder of the Cancer Fellows Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting early-career radiation oncologists worldwide. His commitment to global oncology, clinical innovation, and academic excellence continues to shape the future of radiation therapy and improve cancer care on an international scale.
He earned his degree in Medicine and Surgery with honors in 2011 and specialized in Radiation Oncology with honors in 2016 at the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Rome, Italy. Subsequently, in 2021, he obtained a Ph.D. in Oncological Sciences from the same university, where he deepened his research on innovative technologies in the field of oncological radiotherapy.
He currently heads the MRI-guided External Beam Radiotherapy Unit at the Department of Imaging Diagnostics and Oncological Radiotherapy of the Fondazione Policlinico Universitario "A. Gemelli" IRCCS in Rome.
Additionally, he is a qualified researcher for the role of Full Professor at the Institute of Radiology of the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Rome.
His scientific activity primarily focuses on radiological sciences, with a particular emphasis on developing algorithms for identifying and characterizing radiomic signatures and on advanced imaging applications in radiotherapy treatment planning. He serves as the secretary of the Radiomics Working Group within the Italian ministerial network Alleanza Contro il Cancro and coordinates the Radiomics Research Facility at the Gemelli Science and Technology Park (GSTeP) in Rome.
Since 2024, he helds the position of Chair of the Educational Council and board member of the European SocieTy for Radiotherapy and Oncology (ESTRO).

Dr Issa Mohamad is a consultant radiation oncologist and associate member at King Hussein Cancer Center (KHCC) in Jordan. He completed radiation oncology clinical/research fellowship from University of Toronto, Princess Margaret Cancer Centre. He is currently the lead of the Head and Neck multidisciplinary team and the director of radiation oncology fellowship program at KHCC. His areas of subspecialty expertise include Head and Neck cancer, GI malignancy and extracranial stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT). His research focus is aligned with his training and is centered on the implementation of new radiation therapy technologies and quality improvement in the radiation oncology field. Maximilian Schmid is a radiation oncologist at the Department of Radiation Oncology at the Medical University of Vienna. He is 2nd deputy head of the Department of Radiation Oncology and head of brachytherapy. He is clinically in charge of the treatment of sarcoma and gynecological cancer. His research interest is focused on IGABT, use of MRI in radiotherapy and treatment of cervical and vaginal cancer. Maximilian Schmid is part of the coordinators of the EMBRACE studies and head of a Christian Doppler Laboratory for image and knowledge driven precision radiation oncology.
Dr. Razan Amjad is a Radiation Oncologist and Assistant Professor at King Abdulaziz University - Rabigh. Lauren Henke, MD, MSCI is an Associate Professor of Radiation Oncology and Director of the GI Radiation Oncology service at University Hospitals/Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, where she also co-leads the GI Oncology Disease Team for Seidman Cancer Center and serves as residency Program Director. She has specialized in the development and clinical implementation of advanced technologies, like advanced CT- and MRI-guided radiotherapy, and adaptive radiotherapy since 2014, including the first-ever clinical trial of stereotactic MR-guided online-adaptive RT (SMART). Dr. Henke also serves on the National Cancer Institute (NCI) Task Force on pancreatic cancer, the NRG Oncology task groups for pancreas and hepatobiliary cancers, and served as the physician chair of the ASTRO task force on adaptive radiotherapy.
Dr. AlHussain is a registered practicing Consultant Radiation Oncologist by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties, and a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada, where he had obtained his Medical Degree from King Saud University (1998-2004) at Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, then did his Radiation Oncology Residency (2007-2011) and Sub-Specialty Fellowship Training (2012-2013) at the Ottawa Hospital Cancer Center, University of Ottawa, Canada.

He served as the Director of Postgraduate and Scholarship Administration at King Fahad Medical City (2013-2016), chairing the Scholarship and Training Committee, the Academic Officers Committee and the JCI/CBAHI Medical Education Accreditation Taskforce, which lead to its Accreditation in 2014 as an Academic Medical Center.
Dr. AlHussain has joined the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCFHS) as a Consultant of Accreditation (Jan 2017-July 2018) where he served as the founding Chairman of the Accreditation Surveyors’ Committee (June 2017-June 2019) and lead the SCFHS Institutional Accreditation System Reform Taskforce (Oct 2018-March 2019), which resulted at the launch the Institutional Accreditation System on March 3rd, 2019.

He acted as an Expert within imPACT IAEA teams for Pakistan (2013) & Syria (2022), a member of the ASCO International Affairs Steering Committee (2016 – 2019), and a reviewer in the IAEA curriculum for radiation oncology education and training (2024). He authored / co-authored 80+ manuscripts/ books/ books’ chapters, did 100+ scientific presentations, and his efforts were cited over a thousand times with an H-index of 16, as in Google Research.
